Get Rid of Seagulls Around Your Boat or Building

Bird Boat Sweep keep gulls away!

Seagulls can be a great annoyance around boats, dock areas, as well as at waterfront homes and buildings. They are loud, messy pest birds that leave disgusting droppings everywhere which are a slip and fall hazard and often contain harmful bacteria and ectoparasites which can carry serious diseases. Their droppings are acidic as well and when they buildup they can corrode many things as well as creating additional maintenance to clean them regularly. Gulls are scavenger birds so they eat a wide variety of foods, often leaving wrappers and other parts of their food source strewn everywhere. These pest birds can also be very aggressive, especially if there is food present, knocking people over and pecking at them to get at the food or chase them from ‘their area’.

There are many reasons to move seagulls away from your building or boat. But how do you do it?  One way that is very effective is to create the illusion that there are predators in the area with a
Dead Seagull Decoy. This full-feathered, life-like effigy is a “dead” seagull in a death pose. This 20 inch fake seagull corpse can be positioned around the area to signal danger to the gulls hanging out around your building or boat. Ideally you want to use two Dead Gull Decoys; position one decoy face down and the other feet up. Move the decoys daily so it appears that “fresh kills” are happening so the seagulls believe a real threat predator is in the area.

The predator threat can be enhanced in the seagull’s mind by combining the Dead Gull Decoys with other bird scare deterrents that enhance the predator threat for the seagulls. One example is the
Gull Cat Bird Scare Decoy. This is a lifelike cat decoy positioned in a crouching position ready to pounce that moves in the slightest breeze. It is weighted and stable and can be secured to any surface, making it easy to use on boats, balconies, patio tables or any area that is visible to the seagulls.  The Gull Cat decoy is a lifelike predator and combined with the Dead Gull Decoy creates a realistic threat to the seagulls, causing them to leave the area.  You can enhance the predator threat further by installing either Bird Scare Eye Balloons or Bird Scare Flags as well.  The large eyes and flashing mylar tape tap into seagull’s fear and flight instinct and when combined with the Gull Scare Cat and the Dead Gull Decoys, the predator threat becomes very real for the seagulls, driving them from the area. We also highly recommend mounting a Bird Boat Sweep on your boat!
